STATEN ISLAND, NY – New Dorp High School has been a fixture on the Staten Island educational scene for almost 90 years.

New Dorp opened its doors in September 1936, with the original school building was located at 485 Clawson St.

Given the Island’s rising population, a new building for the high school, on New Dorp Lane, was opened in September 1982. The original New Dorp school building is now home to Staten Island Technical High School.

The school has long been known for its sports achievements as well as its academic and artistic programs.

The school has produced a number of noted alums, including NHL star Nick Fotiu; Raekwon, Method Man and Inspectah Deck from the Wu-Tang Clan; actor Robert Loggia; Rep. Nicole Malliotakis; former congressman and borough president Guy Molinari; Twisted Sister drummer AJ Pero, and NFL stars Mike Siani and Frank Ferrara.

Take a look at some vintage photos from New Dorp High School history. Maybe you’ll see yourself or someone you know!
